« LA COULEUR AU BOUT DU TUNNEL »
The Canadian Guild of Crafts presents the exhibition “La couleur au bout du Tunnel” by ceramic artist Guy Simoneau. Attracted by both the functional and the sculptural, he presents double-walled bowls that fuse functionality with surprising forms! An artist known for his work on light, texture, and superposition, his flamboyant artworks reveal the ingenuity of his research into colour. Inspired by both nature and architecture, he creates works of sculptural design whose surfaces are sometimes coloured in an abstract manner, sometimes built up with pictograms.
Making clay, developing colour palettes, high-firing and low-firing: these are some of the techniques he has appropriated over the course of his many years of exploration.
Guy Simoneau has been working in ceramics for more than 25 years. He has participated in exhibitions in Canada, the United States, and Europe. He is the distinguished recipient of numerous prizes, among them the Montreal International Interior Design Show’s SIDIM Prize for the best “limited series” object, the Salon des métiers d’art de Montréal’s Prix Jean-Marie Gauvreau, and the Contemporary Design Award at Toronto’s One of a Kind Show and Sale.
