27th International Festival of Films on Art
From March 19 to 29, 2009
Renowned as the most important festival in its domain, the International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA) highlights local and international artists whatever their discipline in an exceptional selection of films. With James Hyndman as spokesperson, the 27th edition of FIFA will take place from next March 19 to 29 inside the most prestigious locations in Montreal: Places des Arts, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Grande Bibliothèque, Canadian Center for Architecture, Cinémathèque québécoise, Cœur des sciences de l’UQAM, Goethe-Institut, Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal and NFB Cinema.
The 27th edition of FIFA will see 45 films competing including 10 Canadians films of which 7 are from Quebec. Never have so many films from Canada and Quebec competed in the festival. Among the chosen films, let us mention Colville, Félix, The Jazz Baroness and Ken Follett. This year Mr Michel Nuridsany, a former art critic at Le Figaro will be glad to preside over the jury made of Barbara Freed (director, producer and script-writer), Pierre Houle (renowned director), Claude Poissant (artistic co-director and executive director of Théâtre Petit à Petit) and Werner Volker (producer, director, script-writer and founder of Aquilon Film Inc.).
The team of FIFA has received in preselection more than 600 films. Close to 300 will be chosen for the 2009 programming of the festival. Be sure that once again this year FIFA will offer you a selection of the best international productions on art and will make you discover the most brilliant creators and artists from the past and present. Look for the FIFA 2009 programme on the website www.artfifa.com from February 26.
