The Via Ferrata: a presentation of AventureX
Have your heard of AventureX? Fans of rock climbing and thrill-seekers will most certainly say yes. This is because this company from Quebec puts at your disposal experienced rock climbing instructors who are all passionate by the sport they teach. You will thus be able to safely experience rock climbing with the Via Ferrata and the Canopy Canyon.
Palissades
The Mountain Adventure Park of the Palissades is just the perfect place for outdoor climbing. In addition to being surrounded by magnificent mountainous landscapes and having the possibility to wander in 15 km of scenic hiking trails, the Pallissades holds a 4-kilometre wide and 400-metre high natural granite rock face. Thanks to this, rock climbers can venture on the two courses of the Via Ferrata where metal steps, cables, hooks and footbridges are fixed in the rock. Also available on the Palissades’ site: a magnificent swinging bridge, a 250-metre Tyrolean traverse and the possibility of rappelling on a 70-metre course.
At Canyon Sainte-Anne
Two other Via Ferrata courses are offered at Canyon Sainte-Anne which is located at the frontier of the regions of Quebec and Charlevoix. Make the most of your visit by trying the Canopy Canyon, a course on the wall of rocks of Ste-Anne River’s gorge on which you can travel with the help of Nepal bridges and sections of steel wire ropes fixed in the rock face. And while you are wandering inside the river’s gorge, why not try the Tyrolean traverse and swinging bridges which can also be found at this site? These adventurous courses will nonetheless give you some of the most beautiful views of the region.
The extras
Finally, for an out of the ordinary winter experience, head for Parc de la chute Montmorency in Quebec City and try the Via Ferrata on ice. And eventhough you do not necessarily need to be an experienced climber to enjoy the activities offered by AventureX, you can always take advantage of L’Ascensation, a rock climbing school that will help you in improving your techniques. In good or bad weather, 75 courses of different levels await you in a large 40-feet high room at the climbing centre Roc Gyms in Quebec City. Enjoy the adventure!
