Winter in the Laurentides

This winter, Quebec’s Seasons is in the Laurentides. This tourist region is very versatile and presents many activities. Year after year, tourists take advantage of its numerous installations at their disposal for one season. In the Laurentides, almost every winter sport can be done, from ice climbing to tube sliding, to snowshoeing and of course, to skiing in all its forms. Obviously, not everyone is a fan of these sports and that is understandable. For these people, other establishments open their doors and offer the warmest places. Let’s explore them.

Iced Getaways

Each winter, the water in the lakes and rivers freezes, thus allowing the practice of special activities. In Saint-Placide, the lac des Deux-Montagnes changes into a landing and takeoff runway for all the kites involved in the Festi-Vent sur glace. The centre de villégiature Tremblant, for its part, takes advantage of the iced cliffs hanging off its famous mountain to challenge all thrill lovers. Accompanied by an experienced teacher, amateurs and experts are invited to climb the cliffs of Mount Tremblant. If you prefer staying on firm ground, you can always put on your stakes and glide on the rinks. L’Estérel, a vacation and convention centre, offers you a very beautiful eight-kilometre cross-country skiing circuit.

Skiing Laurentides

Snowy Getaways

The Laurentides region is well-known for its 14 ski resorts, each bearing a different size. They all have in common the fact that they offer large white spaces where everyone can slide down the designated trails. Alpine skiing, of course, has the place of honour on these mountains, but let’s not forget snowboarders. Also, the regional and national parks, as well as the parc linéaire le P’tit Train du Nord, in Saint-Jérôme, transform some of their cycling paths into cross-country skiing paths. Of course, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and hiking are some of the other sports you can do on snow in winter.

Mixed Getaways

For something out of the ordinary, we invite you to go on a plane ride. Delco Aviation offers you rides in the sky to admire the nature white blanket underneath your feet. Also, the Village du Père Noël is perfect for families, whether they want to feel the Holidays atmosphere or extend their fun over a few more days. Finally, those looking for tranquillity will have the choice among the numerous spas and health centres of the region. You must admit that winter in the Laurentides seems attractive! And these activities are only a general idea of what can be done in the region…
