Festival International des Rythmes du Monde

The scope and economic benefits of the Festival International des Rythmes du Monde of Saguenay make it the biggest outdoor cultural/tourism event to hit the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region.

This year, the event is at its 8th year running and will take place from July 29 to August 8, 2010. The Festival brings together over 850 international artists, artisans and musicians from some 20 countries. This gathering, for both families and world music fans alike, now attracts 250,000 festival-goers and generates almost $14M in economic benefits annually. Downtown Chicoutimi gives itself over to music and dance, and takes on a thoroughly cosmopolitan feel as crowds throng to enjoy free shows starting at 12:00 am until 11:00 pm on four outdoor stages set up on two sites.
