A Culture Alive and Well
Being firstly a place of history and ethnology highlighting the fascinating and touching life of Quebec Acadians, our museum has grown to be a public place where several cultural and educational activities facilitate the discovery and sharing of the great Acadian heritage.
The exhibition “Une Acadie québécoise” presents, in an original way, the settlement of the Acadian line in Quebec and brings to light its large contribution to Quebec’s society. Baie-des-Chaleurs constitutes a great example of this great heritage and culture.
Established in an adjoining pavilion, the exhibition “Bonaventure en miniatures” commemorates the architectural and maritime splendour of Bonaventure during the 1950s. Realised by the passionate craftsman Marcel Arsenault, the exhibition includes dozens of buildings reproduced at a scale of 1:12.
A World of Diversity!
Do not miss to visit the temporary exhibitions created in order to showcase the talent of local and regional artists as well as to display the productions coming from other institutions.
Hail to the Artists!
Adding to the party atmosphere that only Acadians can bring, Chapeau à nos artistes (Hail to the artists) is a series of free shows presented on the museum’s terrace every Wednesday night of the summer. Discover artists coming from Gaspésie and elsewhere in Quebec and the Maritimes in a festive and lively atmosphere!
On the site of the Museum
The Museum is the perfect place for a treat or to offer typical Gaspésie products. Many boutiques of arts and crafts, visual arts, applied arts and local products await you there. Bilingual services, seasonal or on reservation guided tours as well as a book and souvenir counter are also offered to visitors.
