A Hearty Choir
This summer, people from Laval will be prepared to welcome the 4th edition of the Mondial Choral Loto-Québec 2008 presented by Rona. The president and artistic director of the event, Grégory Charles, offers you 10 days of choir singing from all over the place. It represents thousands of people of all ages who will impress you with their clear and in tune voices. The rich and diversified catalogue of songs will allow you to fully appreciate excerpts chosen from the Middle-Ages to the contemporary period. The shows are presented in churches, chapels, auditoriums and theatres around the city.
A Cappella Choirs
Attend the many free shows in front of Ste-Rose de Laval Church where close to a hundred choirs will take over from one another to present excerpts of their catalogue. Some other shows are presented there with an admission fee. Among many others, Ann Nesby will offer you a soul and gospel night and Nathalie Choquette will be surrounded by a choir for a special night of opera. That’s not all because The Gents, a British vocal ensemble, will present you an impressing catalogue which goes from pop music to jazz. And let’s not forget the prestigious Vienna Boy’s Choir composed of a hundred boys with marvellous voices and existing since 1498. Finally, do not miss the first show of Les Anges, this group of young talents trained by Grégory Charles and whose first album has had a great success.
Outdoor Shows
The Centre de la Nature site will also be an important spot for the event. Take out you blankets and picnic baskets and, with your family, take part in the Symphonic Picnic on June 22 where the Orchestre Symphonique de Laval, directed by Alain Trudel, will perform. And on June 23, the biggest Saint-Jean show to have ever taken place in Laval will include the complete masterpiece “L’Heptade” of the legendary group Harmonium performed by the Orchestre Symphonique de Laval. Hundreds of chorister and special guests including Marco Calliari, Marc Déry, Yann Perreau, Dan Bigras, Boom Desjardins and Grégory Charles which make this an event not to be missed.
So between June 21 and 29 2008, Laval will definitely become the place to be.
