Good heavens! My emu!
In September 2007, the Charlevoix region was pleased to welcome the Centre de l’émeu, which established in Saint-Urbain. Back at the time, the farm had only about forty emus. Some 360 emus later, for a total of 400 emus, the Centre is about to celebrate its 10th anniversary on September 28, 2007.
A productive decade
In ten years, the Centre de l’émeu de Charlevoix has become the leader in its field in being the largest emu farm in Quebec. Nowadays, the farm markets about forty products, like meat and emu-based body care products. But why not visit the farm and discover all these products? You will be led to the farm to see the incubation room where you will learn about emu’s pre-production techniques. During your visit, you will be able to taste some products available for sale.
To be discovered
Numerous people use or sell emu products. The body cares are used and sold by some massage institutes, among others. The meat, in addition to being distributed in a few markets of Québec City and Montréal, is served in several restaurants of the region. To take the time to enjoy the region and its gastronomy, stop at Chez Gertrude, the tourist home located at the Centre de l’émeu de Charlevoix. This centennial house offers you four beautiful and comfortable rooms as well as a breathtaking view on the Mont du lac des Cygnes and on the Centre de l’émeu. It’s the ideal décor to relax.
