Festival du Nouveau Cinéma de Montréal

The 39th annual FESTIVAL DU NOUVEAU CINEMA FILM FESTIVAL (FNC), October 13 to 24, 2010, is one of North America’s most anticipated and best-attended film events, with over 140,000 attendees making their way to Montreal each year to enjoy diverse, high-quality programming. Over the course of ten days, more than 300 short and feature length films, various performances, multimedia installations, master classes and a wealth of professional activities converge at the heart of one single event: the Festival du nouveau cinema!

This Academy Award-qualifying event's strength lies in the quality of its programming, with films selected for their excellence, originality and innovation. FNC has introduced audiences to such Canadian luminaries as François Girard, Atom Egoyan, Denis Villeneuve, Guy Maddin, Léa Pool, as well as international artists who have earned worldwide acclaim, such as Werner Herzog, Jim Jarmusch, Abbas Kiarostami, Spike Lee, Wim Wenders, Raymond Depardon, Jane Campion, Pedro Almodóvar, Wong Kar-wai, Chantal Akerman, Marguerite Duras, and more.

A major presence in the cinematic landscape since 1971, FNC offers a high-profile, international springboard for original and largely unseen works, with a special regard for cinema d’auteur and digital production.
