A park in the heart of Shawinigan

The Melville Island Park is situated in the Mauricie region, right in the heart of the city of Shawinigan. The 160 hectares of the park are made of more than 75% of forest. It contains two islands (Melville and Banane) and a mountain with a height of 70 metres. In this marvellous area bordered by the Saint-Maurice River, you can enjoy watersports with crafts available inside the park. The site has been greatly developed with 145 camping spots and a lodge capable of welcoming 60 persons. The park, accessible all year long, is also perfect for the enjoyment of outdoor activities with trails for hiking, cycle paths, a forest adventure course and many panoramic viewpoints to enjoy the beautiful scenery. In winter, the trails are rather used by cross-country skiers or snowshoers. Furthermore, the ski slopes are never very far as are the ice slides.

Shawinigan Forest Adventure Course

Arbre en Arbre Shawinigan (Shawinigan Forest Adventure Course) is open from May 1 to October 31. You will definitely take pleasure in going over the five different trails made for the whole family. Throughout the course, you will find swinging bridges, footbridges, lianas and tyroleans traverses 106 metres from the ground! The trails will allow you to cross the forest on platforms safely secured on a harness and with a security cable. You will thus be able to discover the scenery of the park in a completely different way.

In short, this will be nothing like your ordinary day at the park!
