Buckwheat and all its products
This fall, the city of Louiseville is getting ready to welcome numerous visitors for the 30th edition of the famous Festival de la Galette de Sarrasin, a celebration of the buckwheat pancake, a local product. The event is the perfect occasion to discover or rediscover the enjoyment of buckwheat products. Spiced up by a folk atmosphere, the Festival is a great opportunity to celebrate in the heart of the town and to elect the next queen for the year to come.
Mauricie is the ideal place to host this kind of festival since the region has several agricultural lands of which many are devoted to buckwheat. From this cereal, it is possible to cook countless delicious products. Buckwheat is first transformed into a greyish flour often used to make pastas, cakes, breads, pizzas and of course pancakes! Also, did you know that beer can be made from buckwheat?
You will be part of the crowd of visitors and locals in an atmosphere reminiscent of the seigniories of the past. For the 30th anniversary of the event, come to sing along with Kevin Parent, laugh with Peter MacLeod and dance during a traditional Canadian Night. On the last Sunday of the Festival, invade the city streets to see the parade of floats, majorettes and antique cars. And to top it all, attend the crowning of the new Reine-Meunière who will become the emblematic figure of the Festival for the year to come.
We’ll see you there from October 3 to 12 2008!
