Parc des chutes de la Petite rivière Bostonnais / Centre et circuit Félix-Leclerc
Each day of each season, Mauricie can make you discover a lovely location or a great unknown attraction. But most of all, with all the large green areas in the region, you will most definitely be surrounded by beautiful natural parks. Among them, Parc des chutes de la Petite rivière Bostonnais in La Tuque is not only the site of a famous waterfall but also a place where you will be able to see exhibitions, be in nature and walk in the hiking trails of the hometown of one of Quebec’s most famous artists: Félix Leclerc.
A Welcoming Park
Open throughout the year, the park will bring you a marvellous trip in nature within the safety of waymarked hiking trails. You will also see the impressive 35-metre-high De La Bostonnais waterfall. It is a great place for a family picnic or a photography session in nature. And in order to develop your talent as a photograph, visit the photo exhibition about nature and the few stuffed animals at the nature centre.
The Old Fur Trading Post
The park is also a great source of information concerning Mauricie’s history. For example, did you know that not so long ago, Parc des chutes de la Petite rivière Bostonnais had been a Fur Trading Post and that beaver’s fur was the most sought-after product? Thanks to the nature centre of the park, you will be able to know more about this period of time and discover the location of the first trading posts, exploited areas as well as the important role of the Hudson Bay Company.
A centre for Félix
Before taking the unique thematic Circuit Félix-Leclerc, take some time to visit Centre Félix-Leclerc. Guides of the centre will make you discover this exhibition which allows you to see the real birth of a city. Did you know that it is with pioneers like the Leclerc family that the city of La Tuque is now what it is? Like Félix himself did, discover this city with the information boards of the park and with extracts from a book written by the artist in 1946.
Have a great visit in nature!
