Youth Theatre
Nestled in the city centre, Le Petit Théâtre de Sherbrooke is a professional theatre company that performs in a 115-seat hall. Since its creation in 1997, Le Petit Théâtre de Sherbrooke has proposed musical theatrical creations that are mainly intended for a young public of children and adolescents. Over the past 10 years, the company has presented eight original productions in Sherbrooke, but also elsewhere in Quebec, Canada and Europe.

For the 2007-2008 season, Le Petit Théâtre de Sherbrooke emphasizes its brand new production available starting January 23, 2008: Tante T. This play, intended for 7-11 year olds, deals with memory, language loss and the difficulty to communicate. After the success obtained last year, La Tempête, an adaptation by Michel Garneau of the last play written by Shakespeare, will be played again in March 2008. The play is intended for children 11 years old and over.

The plays created and presented at Le Petit Théâtre de Sherbrooke are always very professional. Since young people are our future, Le Petit Théâtre takes pride in giving access to art in general and theatre in particular. The plays target children as young as 4 years old, and the music integrated to the plays add to the general interest of children. Moreover, the company’s priority is to make the theatre accessible to the Eastern Townships community as well as to visitors.

At the end of a play, whether it is presented in the hall of Le Petit Théâtre de Sherbrooke or elsewhere in Quebec, actors often meet their young public. These exchanges between public and actors allow nice discussions concerning the play and the characters. The actors share their passion with these young people, who might get an interest for the workshops and camps offered by Le Petit Théâtre de Sherbrooke.
