Fall in Quebec Halloween

Trick or Treat

Of course, you need to plan your Halloween celebration well in advance. But what should you plan first? Candies, costumes or decoration? You can certainly trust the already wrapped candies found in department stores, trust the costumes bought at the pharmacy as well as the traditional pumpkin, but if, for a change, you’d decide to do things differently? What if we gave you new ideas for this traditional family celebration?

This year, give out hand-made candies and chocolate-flavoured sweets! At the Musée du chocolat in Bromont, the chocolate-makers concoct small individually wrapped chocolates that go well with the lollipops… And that’s not talking about their barley sugar candies…

As for the costumes, you can take your inspiration from one of the fall foliage colours! Take red, as an example. This colour goes well with the devil with its pointy horns, or with the Little Red Riding Hood cape. Show your costume during a special night like the one organized at the Mont Sutton ski resort on October 27. (1 800 565-8455)

Halloween pumkin Now, let’s talk about the pumpkin. Before you decorate it, you need to pick it! In Granby, at the verger champêtre de Mme Choinière et M. Mailloux, you can come pick your own. Then, you can decorate it as you wish. But before you throw it away, keep the flesh and seeds. They can always be useful, either for a recipe or for a face mask…

For a true out-of-the-ordinary activity, try the mystery murder dinner aboard the Orford Express, tourist train. Actors, a three-course meal and a train ride will assure you a very entertaining evening. Get more information by email (info@orfordexpress.com) or by phone: 1 800 575-8081!

Happy Halloween!
