Fall in Québec

And Why Not in Fall?

In fall, you can walk in the forest and breathe in nature. On the ground, a mixture of dead leaves, moss, pine needles and moist soil softly crackles under your feet. For your enjoyment, you can observe migratory birds on their way to warmer weather, as well as small animals stocking food for the colder days. You can watch the leaves fall; take your time to breathe in fresh air.

Several activities await you in fall. Talk to golfers about it! They are faithful and play until the courses close, with their gloves and fleece if they need to. Others, in order to enjoy nature, prefer the gentle trot of horses or the exaltation of a top-of-the-tree challenge course. As for all terrain vehicles, they give the exhilaration feeling that only speed can give. So, who’s coming with me for a hot air balloon ride?

Fall also allows people to can food for the coming winter months. In fact, it’s time to harvest fruit and vegetables, to clean the vegetable garden or to stroll in the farmer's market, looking for the week’s special. Tomato or fruit ketchup, beets, small dill pickles, jams… You can especially take the time to freeze peppers, cauliflowers and why not broccolis! There are so many possibilities in fall.

Make sure you don’t forget the wine harvest. Even if it’s a less popular activity in Quebec, some vineyards are sometimes looking for grapes gatherers. Speaking of harvest, don’t forget to bring back some apples for grandma. Her pie of so delicious! Some even think that pumpkin is her secret ingredient, but she never said. You know, pumpkin is not a simple Halloween decoration. You can also cook it.

Fall gives us two possibilities. You can either stay inside, complaining about summer already ending and slowly being replaced by winter, or take advantage of nature and its benefits. Let’s make the most out of rainy days and cook your family recipes to can them. Your guests will appreciate their taste during the next family gathering!
