Colourful Eastern Townships

Fall seasonFor the fall season, Fall in Quebec becomes your guide and presents you the beautiful tourist region of the Eastern Townships. In this region of Quebec, there are many activities to do, and hiking and biking are very popular ones. Of course, with four national parks, the parc de la Gorge de Coaticook and the Centre d’interprétation de la nature du lac Boivin, the Eastern Townships region abounds with spaces and paths that outdoor lovers can appreciate. In addition, the soil is very fertile, which allows significant harvests and the development of agrotourism.

More than 500 kilometres
Nothing is more agreeable than walking in the woods in fall. Walk on dead leaves and pine needles, breathe in the smell of nature and moist ground, admire the small and big animals getting ready for winter, stocking food away… To witness this hustle and bustle of activities, don’t forget the 500 kilometres of cycling paths that cross the region! The Corridors Verts d’Asbestos allow you to admire the buildings that shaped the architectural heritage of the region, while the Eastern Townships cycling network crosses almost each area of the region. The warm sun, still present, though not for long hours, will allow you to do some nice activities until the end of October.

Off the beaten track
One of the main natural attractions of the Townships is for sure the colour change in the foliage of the area, from elms to oaks, to birches and poplars. To fully appreciate all the subtlety, don’t hesitate to board the Orford Express tourist train. Apart from the fall foliage, you can enjoy a visit at the ASTROLab du parc national du Mont-Mégantic until the month of October to admire the starry skies as much as you want before falling in the arms of Morpheus… Make sure you don’t forget to make a detour via Granby! Of course, the Amazoo Waterpark closes at the end of August, but did you know that the Granby Zoo stays opened during the weekends until the end of October?

Flavours of the soil
Eastern Township Vineyard You are part of those who like to taste regional products? The Wine Road will surely fascinate you! Furthermore, it’s time for wine harvest in about fifteen vineyards of the region. Of these vineyards, the Orpailleur in Dunham is also an economuseum about vine and wine. The Eastern Townships, it’s also a sign for harvest, fruit picking and agrotourism. The apple orchards abound and their by-products are simply varied and delicious. Here and there, the kiosks offering fresh farm and vegetable garden products will make your mouth water. Even the Abbaye de Saint-Benoît-du-Lac is part of the celebration by offering the fruits of their work: cheeses and ciders. For a longer stay, the charming inns and bed & breakfasts will offer you the lodging and sometimes the meal you are looking for. Have a nice visit!
